This Biophilic Corridor Improvement Plan evaluates the current state of stormwater management
and the condition of storm sewers, streams, and watersheds in the First Ward of the City of
Dunkirk. More specifically, this Plan primarily addresses the substantive improvement of Lake
Shore Drive (NY Rt. 5) between North Main Street and Wright Park Drive. It also outlines a path
to a more sustainable community by providing a comprehensive framework for managing
stormwater for the next several years and acts as a best practice of ecological priority
development in contemporary cities also located along shorelines.
